| 16 | .pdf file: correspondence between John Lansdale Sr. and Eva Strain, Summer 1933 (9 pages) These letters were written between John Lansdale, Sr. and Eva Strain, a woman, possibly a distant cousin, living in Rockbridge Co., Virginia, during the summer of 1933. JL Sr. was searching for knowledge of the Strain family history, and his two letters tells what he knew about his Strain family at the time. They compliment the history he writes in his essay "Miscellaneous Personal and Family Notes" preserved on the Maryland Histories page. Her letter tells of what she knows about her family, which it turns out is not closely related. See the memo on the first page for more information here. This includes S465 on this site. |

| 37 | .pdf file: An Act for the benefit of the Infant Legatees of Jacob Franklin This act, passed Jan. 5, 1820 by the Maryland General Assembly, allows James Deale, Jacob Franklin's son-in-law, to act as the guardian of his infant children " as may be necessary to convey all the right, title and interest, which the said infant children have in or to the real esaate of Ferdiando Battee, late of Anne Arundel County, deceased." It is unclear to which Ferdinando Battee this refers, but it must have been either the grandfather or great-grandfather of Jacob Frankln's wife Anne Battee. What property it refers to it also unknown from this act. The document can be found at the Maryland Archives. |

Dr. Philip Lansdale was a surgeon aboard the "Hartford" during the battle. The first document here is his casualty report of those injured aboard the "Hartford"; the second is the report of the battle by Capt. P. Drayton of the engagement.
