The Official Records can be found on-line at the Making of America project at Cornell.

16 .pdf file: correspondence between John Lansdale Sr. and Eva Strain, Summer 1933 (9 pages)
These letters were written between John Lansdale, Sr. and Eva Strain, a woman, possibly a distant cousin, living in Rockbridge Co., Virginia, during the summer of 1933. JL Sr. was searching for knowledge of the Strain family history, and his two letters tells what he knew about his Strain family at the time. They compliment the history he writes in his essay "Miscellaneous Personal and Family Notes" preserved on the Maryland Histories page. Her letter tells of what she knows about her family, which it turns out is not closely related. See the memo on the first page for more information here. This includes S465 on this site.

These several page are the report by Col. Eppa Hunton, commander of the Ellzey's unit the 8th Virginia regiment, for the first battle at Manassas on July 21st, 1861. I include this because Ellzey is specifically mentioned by his commanding officer, as "Acting Adjutant Elzey." The are taken from the Official Records, as the title page indicates, from Series 1, vol. 2: 546-47. The last page, an index page for the Official Records in a later volume, indicates what Ellzey's name should be.

Included here are two selections which mention Richard W. Lansdale's knowledge of the the terrain and the Indians living on it; there are also a few illustrations (not included). It is unclear to which Ferdinando Battee this refers, but it must have been either the grandfather or great-grandfather of Jacob Frankln's wife Anne Battee. What property it refers to it also unknown from this act. The document can be found at the Maryland Archives

38 .pdf file: Battle in Mobile Bay
These reports from the flagship the U.S.S. Hartford tell of action on August 5, 1864, in Mobile Bay; the U.S.S. "Hartford," "Metacomet," and "Brooklyn" were fighting against the C.S.S. gunboats "Selma," "Morgan," "Gaines," and "the enemy ram 'Tennessee'" off of Fort Morgan. Dr. Philip Lansdale was a surgeon aboard the "Hartford" during the battle. The first document here is his casualty report of those injured aboard the "Hartford"; the second is the report of the battle by Capt. P. Drayton of the engagement. They are from the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Navies, Ser. 1, vol. 21, which can be found on-line at the Making of America project at Cornell.
