This page contains work on family branches (especially the ancestors of John Lansdale, Jr.) who lived in Kentucky. This includes the Hamilton, Mannen, Pollock, and Savage branches, among others.

Histories here will refer to no living people. If you have any information which might amplify these histories--documents, pictures, or references--PLEASE get in touch! You are free to browse and download. If you cite or use them elsewhere, however, please give credit. To view the articles on this page, you will need to download Adobe's (free) Acrobat Reader.

Germantown, Kentucky

This is a history of John Lansdale Jr.'s descent from the Mannen, Hamilton, Pollock, and Savage families who lived in Bracken and Mason Counties in Kentucky during the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

The Settlement of Kentucky

This essay from Harper's Magazine in 1862, found on-line at Cornell University's Making of America project, does not mention any family relations (as far as I know), but I thought it was pretty neat: it provides a nineteenth-century account of the settlement of Kentucky between the 1760s and 1790s, including much on pioneer legend Daniel Boone, his contemporaries, and their mythic struggles in the "wildnerness."
